Live Review Dave Millsap
Dave Millsap is
truly a Texas mainstay
on the Blues Country music scene. His quiet off stage demeanor is
a
misleading persona for the showman and guitarist that lies within this road hardend and
well seasoned vet of the music industry . He takes life
with a simple stride while pounding down doors with his musical
stature. Dave has as much fun on stage as his audience has
off stage .
I caught him at
a
private party mid February and was really blown away.
Dave along
with with
Mike on Sax,
Lewis on keys and Richard on
drums really blew the
room up.
This Texas son was all over the map with songs like "2 steps
from a 12 step" and "A Broken Heart" which were soul felt and and heart
filled. Other songs that caught my ear that night were "Nothing But
Trouble" and "Hold On". Not only is he a great guitarist,
but he also
has a very powerful vocal style.
Dave Millsap also
announced
an upcoming show at the Bass Hall March 12 .
For a little back ground on
Dave he has
shared the stage with Bobby Whitlock, Steve Cropper, Chuck Berry ,
Bonnie Raitt, Vince Gill, Jerry Williams, Lee Roy Parnell, Albert
Collins, Ray Sharpe, Robert Ealey, Bruce Channell, Sam Meyers,
Boz
Scaggs, Hubert Sumlin, Stephen Bruton , Kim Wilson, Joe Ely
and many
others. He spent many years as Delbert McClinton's touring
guitarist
playing all over the world, which won him a Grammy nomination in 1989
for Best Contemporary Blues Album, "Live In Austin."
His first CD, "Nothing But
Troubles," was
done with the help of some very notable guitarist themselves , Stephen
Bruton and Ray Sharpe. For more info on Dave go to davemillsap.com
