Live Review
Helga Beckman
accordian        When was the last time you heard the Cotton Eyed Joe sung with German accent, seen the chicken dance, or heard really good yodeling?  If the answer is never or way too long you need to get out to Edelweiss German restaurant to see Helga Beckman.   You will most likely see and hear all of these things and then some while enjoying fantastic German cuisine.  I suppose since it was a restaurant I'm allowed to deviate for a moment and say that the food was not only authentic, but truly incredible.  The whole place was traditional German down to the costumes of the band and waitresses.  But back to the entertainment.   Helga, along with Mike and Burnt, sang traditional German pokas, folk songs, and drinking songs with the modern flair of electric accordians, synthesisers and drum machines.   As our food was being served Burnt, a mountain of a man, and Helga opened our evening by singing Edelweiss in German and in English.
Helga did go back to the traditional roots for a song and played Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the saw  mp
accompanied by the accordian.  It was absolutely ammazing.  They also take requests all the way from Happy Birthday in German  to The Impossible Dream.  They will come to your table and serenade you with your own special request.  It's a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, etc.  Or, if
you are one of those people who lkes to celebrate Octoberfest in June, this is a place for you.burnt
