Live Review   Joe Posada in soft light

joepAfter a fabulous hour-long dinning experience, I stepped into the lounge at Landry's restaurant on the river walk in San Antonio.  Immersed in the red glow from the neon lighting surrounding the stage, I was captured by the sounds of Grammy nominated recording artist Joe Posada.  From the soft lights, Joe  Posada and his Jazz trio kept their finger on the pulse of love on this sultry Valentine's Day evening.  The first set, which I only heard from my table while enjoying my Red Snapper, was filled with jazz, fusion, and a mix of Valentine appropriate pop tunes.  What a treat; not only a great meal but world class music to boot.  Joe was very gracious by starting off the second set with my request "Girl From Ipanima", a ballad of a love unrequited, a song which Joe Posada did in Spanish.  This unique arrangement gave the song a silky smooth touch. Then Joe's sax slid in on top of the melody and added a sensual elegance to an already timeless standard.  Joe Posada's showmanship shined as he slipped into "Making Whoopie", which brought a show stopping round of applause.  When all was said and done, all I can say is that it was a smooth night with some very smooth company and some incredibly smooth Jazz.  If you want more go to www.joeposada.com
